ZC to reorganize and appoint new coaches following Board acceptance of results

At its meeting on Saturday, the Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) Board approved the thorough report that was given by the Committee of Inquiry, which was tasked with looking into Zimbabwe’s World Cup qualifying shortcomings and evaluating ZC’s cricket operations framework. Following input from a range of internal and external stakeholders, the three-member Committee, led by Mr. Lloyd Mhishi, delivered its findings to the Board. Following discussion of the report’s conclusions, the Board decided to accept it in its entirety and to quickly put the Committee’s suggestions into action. Chief among these recommendations were to reorganize ZC’s Cricket Affairs Department and its staff as well as the organization’s domestic and development roadmap.

to publish job openings for the Zimbabwe Senior Men’s National Team and Zimbabwe Under-19 Men’s National Team Head Coach posts;

to create a National Academy, reorganize the first-class coaching setup, and construct up indoor training facilities in each of the five first-class provinces.

Within four weeks, management was expected to review every recommendation from the Mhishi Committee and provide an action plan to the board. Prosper Utseya’s resignation as head coach of the Zimbabwe Under-19 Men’s National Team was accepted, while Walter Chawaguta was also confirmed by the Board as the senior head coach of the Zimbabwe Senior Women’s National Team during the meeting.
