The ICC Women’s Player of the Month for August 2023 has been announced.

Arlene Kelly of Ireland has won the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award for August 2023, recognizing her great recent form.

Kelly beat off Iris Zwilling of the Netherlands and Ainna Hamizah Hashim of Malaysia for the prized monthly title, following excellent individual efforts with the ball during the month.

During Ireland’s three-match T20I series against the Netherlands, the right-armer was at her magnificent best, taking 10 wickets at a miserly average of 4.30 to help her side clinch a 3-0 series sweep.

This was only the second time in women’s T20Is where a bowler took 10 or more wickets in a bilateral series of three or fewer games.

Kelly was thrilled with the honour.

“I’m honoured to win the award for the month of August and grateful for the opportunities that cricket has provided,” Kelly said.

“The series win in the Netherlands was memorable, and being able to contribute with the ball made it that little bit more special.”

Kelly rose to 21st in the MRF Tyres ICC Women’s T20I bowling rankings courtesy of her performances during August, with the 29-year-old also picking up her best ever T20I figures of 5/12 during the first match of that series against the Netherlands.
