Sri Lanka has lost a vital player ahead of the crucial Asia Cup title match against India on September 17.

Off-spinner Maheesh Theekshana of Sri Lanka will be unavailable for the Asia Cup final versus India. During their Super Four game against Pakistan, he hurt his right hamstring.

A muscular damage was discovered during a scan.

Sahan Arachchige has been brought in as a replacement by the selectors. Arachchige has appeared in two One-Day Internationals. In the middle order, he bats and bowls off-breaks.

The loss of Theekshana is a significant setback for the tournament’s hosts. He was a standout for Sri Lanka, taking eight wickets at an average of 29.12 in five matches.

He will be returning to the High Performance Center to begin recovery.
