Sri Lanka has announced their Asian Games squads.

Sri Lanka has named its men’s and women’s squads for the 19th Asian Games, which will be contested in Hangzhou from September 23 to October 8.

While Chamari Athapaththu will captain a nearly full-strength women’s squad, due to a scheduling issue with the forthcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, Sri Lanka has chosen to send a supplementary team to the Asian Games.

Sahan Arachchige, who made his international debut in 2023, will captain the men’s team. Ashen Bandara, the men’s squad’s most experienced player, bats in the middle order and has played in more than ten international games.

The men’s squad also includes Nuwan Thushara and Nuwanidu Fernando, both of whom have international experience.

The women’s team seems familiar, with a major portion of the T20I group that toured England remaining. Earlier this month, the women’s team lead by Athapaththu made history in England by winning their first-ever series victory over England in any format.
