Shubman Gill shares the Gujarat Titans’ IPL strategy for chasing large totals.

On Wednesday, the Gujarat Titans, captained by Shubman Gill, surprised Rajasthan Royals by winning by three wickets. GT chased down a total of 197 in a thrilling match that came down to the final delivery, courtesy of a strong start from captain Shubman Gill (72) and some late fireworks from Rashid Khan (24).

Gill gave a detailed explanation of the tactics used in the triumphant run chase on Thursday, saying, “We were targeting 45 in three overs and that is very much gettable.” That was the mentality at the time: all you needed was two hits in the over.

According to math, both batsmen must score 22 runs in nine balls. If you approach it that way, you’ll notice that it will take three hits in nine balls, and if one of them goes crazy, the match will end in two balls and three strikes. If there’s an additional batter there, [Impact sub] makes a difference. However, all it takes is the right perspective to simplify and ease things.”

“I believe we dominated almost 50% of the game in the last two games as well. Unfortunately, we played terrible cricket during that awful stretch, which is why we lost.

We were somewhat down in this game, but we were there and about, and it’s always a wonderful feeling to win on the final ball.” the captain of the Gujarat Titans said.

The youthful hitter also offered some guidance to commentators who had virtually written his team out on Wednesday. During the post-match presentation, Harsha Bhogle made a funny comment to the Gujarat Titans captain, “You got two points today,” as he was applauding him. I must say, though, that some of us felt you had left it too late. Still, good job today.”

Gill grinned and responded, “Thank you, don’t think like that when GT is playing.”With three victories in six games, Gujarat Titans are now ranked sixth in the IPL points standings, behind Rajasthan Royals, who have eight points from five games.
