Sanju Samson is in more trouble after breaking the BCCI’s code of conduct following RR vs. GT; here’s why.

At Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, Shubman Gill’s Gujarat Titans handed the Rajasthan Royals their first loss of the season. The RR skipper has been punished for breaking the IPL’s Code of Conduct, thus the problems only become worse.

“Sanju Samson, the captain of the Rajasthan Royals, has been fined after his team maintained a slow over rate during their TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Gujarat Titans at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Jaipur on April 10,” an IPL statement read after the game.

RR was punished for a slow over-rate in the second innings even though they had three spinners; Ravi Ashwin, Yuzi Chahal, and Keshav Maharaj bowled a total of 10 overs throughout the innings. Adam Zampa chose not to participate in the event, therefore Maharaj, a South African, was just brought in to take his place.

“Samson was fined Rs 12 lakhs as it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences,” the statement continued.

In the penultimate over, the captain and other players including Jos Buttler and Riyan Parag were observed chatting with the pacer, Kuldeep Sen, which extended the innings past the intended duration.
