India’s star all-rounder has been replaced in the lineup for the Asia Cup Final.

India has made a late addition to their Asia Cup lineup ahead of the final on September 17th.

On the eve of the Asia Cup Final against Sri Lanka on Sunday, Washington Sundar has been picked as a replacement for Axar Patel. Sundar has already arrived in Colombo and has joined the team.

Axar Patel suffered a left quadriceps strain in India’s most recent Super Four game against Bangladesh on September 15 and will miss the crucial final.

Axar scored 42 runs from 34 balls against the Tigers, including three fours and two sixes. The southpaw took several punches during the innings but kept fighting to keep India in the game.

In the end, Bangladesh’s bowlers came back magnificently and won by six runs to round off their Asia Cup campaign on a high note.

A substitute for Axar Sundar has 16 ODI wickets at an average of 27.18 and an economy of around five. He has also shown some batsmanship, scoring 233 runs in nine innings, including a fifty against New Zealand.

The off-spinner is a member of India’s Asian Games squad and is likely to join the camp when the final is over.

India’s roster for the Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka is as follows:Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, KL Rahul (wicket-keeper), Ishan Kishan (wicket-keeper), Hardik Pandya (VC), Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Washington Sundar.

The past two Asia Cup winners, India and Sri Lanka, will meet in the final in Colombo. Both teams enter the game in opposite forms: India lost in the final over to Bangladesh, while Sri Lanka pulled off a stunning last-over win against Pakistan in a simulated semi-final.
