Bumrah returns to the Indian team, and the ACC announces a reserve day for the Pakistan match.

India’s speed The spearhead had returned to India for the birth of his first child, so he was unable to play in the league match against Nepal.

Jasprit Bumrah has returned to the Indian team after taking a brief break from Asia Cup duties due to the birth of his first child. He arrived in Colombo early on Friday, just in time for India’s first Super 4 match on Sunday against Pakistan. His arrival coincides with the announcement of a reserve day for the upcoming crucial match by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).

The ACC has made the correct decision to designate a reserve day for Sunday’s match due to the persistent inclement weather in Colombo. If the weather interferes with the game on the scheduled day, it will resume on Monday from where it left off. Due to back-to-back games, there are no reserve days scheduled for the other Super 4 matches, but the final will have a reserve day in case of rain.

Bumrah left Sri Lanka immediately following India’s first league game against Pakistan on September 2, missing the second league match against Nepal on September 4. His return, however, coincides with the team’s first Super 4 game.

Bumrah will join the team for a practice session at R Premadasa Stadium on Friday evening. Due to the possibility of inclement weather, the Indian team may be forced to practice indoors, as they did on Thursday, unless the weather improves later in the evening, as has been the recent trend. Fortunately, no rain has fallen in Colombo since Friday morning (at the time of publication), raising hopes for a fruitful evening practice session.

The weather forecast for the coming week is not promising, with Colombo expecting heavy rain, with a 90 percent chance of rain on Sunday. This explains the ACC’s decision to schedule a reserve day for such an important game. The rain forced the cancellation of the India-Pakistan league match.

There is an 85 percent chance of rain on Saturday during Sri Lanka’s second Super 4 game against Bangladesh. As the championship enters its critical phase, the weather is expected to play a significant role.

Following the game against Pakistan on Sunday, India will play Sri Lanka on September 12, followed by Bangladesh three days later on September 15. The final Super 4 match will be played on September 14 between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, followed by the final on September 17. All of these games will be held at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
