Babar Azam reacts to Virat Kohli’s comments

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam was elated at being praised by India star Virat Kohli and detailed the mutual respect that exists between them.

In an interview with Star Sports last year, Kohli expressed his admiration for Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam and recalled their first meeting.

He showed me a lot of respect and regard right away, and that hasn’t changed. Despite the fact that he consistently performs at a high level and deserves to be considered the best batsman in the world across all formats. I’ve always loved watching him play because he has such incredible talent.

Babar is now performing and becoming more confident, so his attitude hasn’t changed. I don’t see a change in his demeanor or strategy toward me.

Prior to the Asia Cup, Babar responded to Virat’s remarks on Star Sports and spoke about Virat’s impact on his performance.

“It feels fantastic. when someone speaks negatively about you. And Kohli’s remarks have given me great pride and joy.

“Such praise gives you confidence. When I met him in 2019, he was at his peak. He’s still at his peak. I wanted to take something from his game. I learnt a lot from him. He gave a detailed explanation to all my questions. That helped me.

“When you do such things for each other, it feels really good.”

Both batters have excelled in the ODI format over the years. Babar, whose most recent knock was a match-winning 151 against Nepal, averages 59.47 in the format with 5353 runs to his name. He has 19 ODI hundreds, the second most for Pakistan in the format.

In contrast, Virat has 12898 runs with an average score of 57.32. His 46 ODI hundreds rank second all-time in the history of the format.

Virat told Star Sports why he enjoys playing ODIs and how the format has brought out the best in him.

“I enjoy ODI cricket very much. ODI cricket, in my opinion, is a format that completely tests your abilities. Your method, your coolness, and how you handled the circumstance. and altering one’s game strategy according to the stage of the match.

I believe that ODI cricket has always brought out the best in me because I enjoy taking on challenges and adapting my game to the circumstances in order to support the success of my team.

“Like I said, it gives me a chance to regularly challenge myself. I really enjoy playing ODI cricket because of all of my batting attributes.

Pakistan’s attack, which features Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah, and Shadab Khan, is one of the most dangerous in all of cricket.

Virat went on to say that he was aware of and highly regarded Pakistan’s bowling abilities.

“Bowling, in my opinion, is their strength, and they have some really impactful bowlers who, depending on their skill set, have the ability to alter the game’s tempo at any time. To deal with them, you must be at your best.
