A teenager from India takes the top spot, ushering in a new star.

Ravi Bishnoi, an Indian spinner, has continued his incredible recent ascent to the top of the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings, ranking him as the top bowler.
Despite having only made his debut on the international scene at the beginning of the previous year, Bishnoi, 23, has risen four spots to the top of the revised rankings thanks to some steady performances for his nation.

In India’s recent 4-1 series victory over Australia at home, the right-armer was voted Player of the Series. Since making his T20I debut against the West Indies in February 2022, he has taken 34 wickets in 21 matches.

It was not surprising that Bishnoi shot to the top; at the 2020 ICC Men’s Under 19 Cricket World Cup in South Africa, the leg-spinner finished with the most wickets (17) of any player, helping India finish second behind another Asian team, Bangladesh.

Even though he frequently trails players like Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Ravichandran Ashwin in the star-studded Indian lineup when it comes to slow bowling, Bishnoi has always performed brilliantly when given the chance, and his economy rate of 7.14 is among the best for the current group of Indian bowlers.

Rashid Khan (second), Adil Rashid (tied for third), Wanindu Hasaranga (tied for third), and Maheesh Theekshana (fifth) all fall one spot within the top 10 as a result of Bishnoi’s ascent to the top, while fellow Indian spinner Axar Patel climbs 16 spots to take the 11th position.

The biggest shiftrs in the most recent T20I batting rankings are Australia’s Travis Head, who moves up 16 spots to 29th, and young Indian Yashasvi Jaiswal, who soars up 16 spots to 19th behind top-ranked teammate Suryakumar Yadav, after the two played well in their recent series on the subcontinent.

Following the conclusion of the first Test between Bangladesh and New Zealand, there was also some movement in the most recent rankings. After scoring 41 and 58 in Sylhet, Kiwi Daryl Mitchell moved up one spot to seventh inside the top list of batters.

After smashing a brilliant century in the second innings against the Black Caps, Bangladeshi captain Najmul Hossain Shanto leaps 13 places to 42nd place in the rankings, but fellow countryman Kane Williamson is still the top-ranked Test batter.

Behind Ashwin in first place, the top 10 Test bowlers are unchanged; however, after making a comeback to red-ball cricket, tall New Zealand pacer Kyle Jamieson has re-entered the rankings at No. 13, and Bangladeshi spinner Taijul Islam has jumped four spots to a career-best 14th after taking 10 wickets and winning Player of the Match against the Kiwis.

With a total of 708 rating points, Taijul has surpassed Shakib Al Hasan’s 705 from August 2017 to become the highest-scoring bowler from Bangladesh.

The top two players in the ODI rankings are still South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj (bowling) and India’s Shubman Gill (batting), despite a few changes after the West Indies and England series opener in the Caribbean.

After hitting his 16th ODI century in Antigua, West Indies captain Shai Hope moves up four spots to 11th on the list of ODI batters, while teammate Brandon King moves up six spots to 78th.
