A record number of viewers tune in to watch the India-Pakistan blockbuster.

As India defeated Pakistan in their highly anticipated clash at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, more fans than ever before were glued to their screens at the same time.

According to Disney+ Hotstar, the blockbuster match between India and Pakistan broke the record for the most viewers watching a cricket stream at one time.

The broadcaster reported that 3.5 crore viewers tuned in during the match between the Cricket World Cup hosts and their arch-rivals, setting a new ‘peak concurrency’ record.

The total number of fans watching the stream at one time exceeds the 2.8 crore who watched the same two teams meet at the recent Asia Cup, as well as the 2.1 crore who watched India play Sri Lanka in the same tournament’s final.

The India-Pakistan match at the Cricket World Cup in Ahmedabad was a watershed moment for the platform and for digital sports viewership across the country.

“We would like to thank all of the fans who tuned in to watch the India-Pakistan match on Disney+ Hotstar,” Sajith Sivanandan, Head of Disney+ Hotstar India, said.

“Your passion for the game is what enabled Disney+ Hotstar to reach the remarkable concurrency number of 3.5 crore viewers.”

“As the cricketing rivalries continue, we will honor our commitment to providing an unrivaled viewing experience to all of our users.”

“We look forward to many more such experiences as the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup unfolds.”
