A crucial player for India’s third Test match against England is injured.

KL Rahul, an Indian middle-order batsman, will not play in the third Test match against England in Rajkot, which is a huge setback.

Due to a quadriceps injury, Rahul, who participated in the first Test, was unable to attend the second. Although he was included in the squad for the previous three Test matches, the BCCI medical team had to provide their approval before he could be selected, just like it did with Ravindra Jadeja.

Rahul has only attained “90% match fitness and will continue his recovery process at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru to be completely match-fit for the fourth and fifth Test,” according to the BCCI’s statement.

Devdutt Padikkal, a batter for Karnataka, has been selected to replace Rahul.

India’s batting lineup has already suffered from the absence of important players. Shreyas Iyer has been left out of the lineup for the last three Test matches while Virat Kohli is away for personal reasons.

After that, Rajat Patidar made his Test debut in Vizag, and he is probably going to stay in the starting eleven for the third Test.

Padikkal could make his series debut as he has been playing well for Karnataka and India A.
